I came across this on craigslist the other day it is a pretty neat idea for what to put on the ends of a greenhouse. It beats the plywood ends some people put on.

 I might try that the next time I put up a greenhouse. I tore my down a few years back, I might try and put one back up with this cool design.

Better Butter?

Today I would like to about food some more, I hope I am not boring anyone who might stop by. My rant today is about margarine, you know the cheap yellow stuff.

The issue of butter always seems to come up as a conversation. Some people are stuck on the idea that margarine is healthy for you. I always disagree.

The first thing I always tell people is that margarine is just one molecule away from plastic! Can you believe that as a nation consume this nasty stuff in such large quantities? Just take a look as you pass the shelf of margarine in the store. There are a lot of choices aren’t there?

I know it is a little gross but here is a picture worth looking at. See how the ants won’t touch the margarine. Yeah, that right even a scavenging creature won’t go near margarine.  

 

 

I for one will always buy butter, it is healthier for you and I think tastes better too. What do you think are you a margarine junkie or will you plan to stay with the real stuff?

Funny Honey

Today I would like spend some time talking about food, Real food. I happen to like real food even though it is hard to come by. I am not talking about some cardboard box of mystery ingredients found on the shelf for 99 cents, I mean the real stuff.
This is something that I care passionately about, and I hope to take a couple minutes to share with you my feelings, concerns and outright disgust with what our society calls food. Now we all know that sweeteners like splenda are some chemical alteration and most people stay away from them (I stay very far away).
So what about honey? Most people grab a bottle marked honey in the store and feel they have chosen a better product. They might be mistaken though. The state of Idaho recently passed a law against “funny honey” which is honey of questionable content. I am sure you will be delighted to know that a lot of stuff marked honey is just vegetable oil with 3% honey flavor. Makes you feel good doesn’t it? What do you think about it?
